Collaborative Construction Solutions, LLC began in March of 2013 in Washington state. The adventurers started the company with a vision of a construction company that is based on core values. CCS was formed with the passionate drive to create a company that can deliver superior quality and exceptional relationships through the collaboration of the entire project team. CCS has grown exponentially since its inception and has held true to their roots of why and how Collaborative Construction Solutions, LLC came about.
Collaborative Construction Solutions, LLC draws its experience from the seasoned professionals that it employs. With their nearly 100 years of combined career experience and nearly $1.5 billion in combined career contracts completed, the CCS team offers proven results and provides effective solutions to your needs. The strength of the CCS Team lies in the ethics and quality of their professional and technical staff. CCS has built an exceptional team of qualified and dedicated individuals, who are highly experienced in all aspects of the design, construction and management processes. Because of the broad range of professional needs associated with project and construction management, the CCS team is prepared to meet and exceed each client’s expectations.
The following is a brief introduction to the key personnel at Collaborative Construction Solutions, LLC.
Lauren A. Hale - President
Lauren Hale grew up in a small neighborhood in the North West tip of Seattle. While observing her father establish a reputable landscape company, Lauren developed her drive to be an entrepreneur. Her father's landscaping business started out with a single truck and a small amount of equipment. His company quickly grew through word of mouth as a result of the quality of work completed as well as a reputation for doing the right thing for his customers. Her father demonstrated the importance of the relationship not only with the client but with employees as well. Ms. Hale was determined that the construction industry should be no different; our core values are in line with many of our personal values.
Ms. Hale is a graduate of Clark College and draws from her experience in working with larger clinics and hospitals in account management as well as her leadership roles as a clinician to manage the day to day business requirements of CCS. Lauren has combined her prior work experience and her personal approach to building strong relationships to manage the business. She manages all HR, all financial aspects of the business as well as project contracts. Ms. Hale has a particular interest in projects that will serve our communities such as churches and non-profits, schools and childcare facilities, police and fire, healthcare and government entities from local city and state to federal projects throughout the US.
Lauren works daily to maintain the focus of Collaborative Construction Solutions, LLC on our mission of doing construction different by adhering to our core values of Safety, Relationships, Collaboration, Integrity and Time Management no matter what challenges arise.
Vernon H. Nielsen - Vice President / Project Manager
Vernon grew up on a small farm in Eastern Oregon and began his career as a welders helper at the age of 17. Vernon worked primarly in the industrial sector for the first portion of his carreer building projects such as powerplants, mine expansions, industrial processing plants and food production facilities. Vernon then moved on to working strictly in government and commercial construction with an emphasis on Design-Build. Mr. Nielsen is a responsible and highly motivated professional with 23 years of solid and diverse experience managing overall operations and optimizing organizational processes. Vernon has completed construction projects in excess of $24 million and has provided Construction Management on projects up to $500+ million in value.
Mr. Nielsen possesses extensive commercial and government construction experience, having provided leadership to numerous projects from initial conception to completion. He is a goal-oriented manger with outstanding technical knowledge of engineering concepts and designs and has an advanced knowledge in building systems and business operations. Mr. Nielsen’s management style is focused on communication with customers throughout project execution and he has developed an excellent rapport with customers on his projects. Mr. Nielsen’s knowledge of and experience in sustainable design and construction led to the achievement of LEED Gold and Silver on four buildings that he recently managed.
Jeremy N - General Superintendent
Jeremy brings our office over 15 years of experience in the construction industry. He grew up on a farm and learned at a very young age what hard work was and the personal satisfaction of completing a job well. In his construction career he has experience in ground up construction, tenant improvements and remediation work. Jeremy is a true team player on every project who brings a great deal of that "can-do" positive attitude with every challenge.
Jeremy has spent the last few years successfully completing very "time sensitive" Federal projects- many of which have been in very remote areas from Washington state to Maine. He strives to ensure that the needs of our clients are met for time of completion and budget all while mitigating unforeseen challenges with ease.
Jon L - General Superintendent
Jon joined our team in the spring of 2019 with a lifelong passion for construction. With over 30 years managing and overseeing crews of over 40 staff members and multiple subcontractors on complex projects, you could say he's a seasoned vet! Jon has vast experience with building Federal and Public Works projects as well as private commercial projects. He is results oriented, skilled in time management and a proactive leader. For these reasons and more, we are happy to have Jon on our team!
Tom C- Superintendent
Beginning as a carpenter and working his way up the ladder, Tom comes to us with 15 years of experience ranging from custom homes to large Commercial, State and Federal facilities. He has spent the last 6 years primarily on NAS Whidbey Island, renovating and constructing Naval Air facilities and hangars. During that time, he also led successful renovations for the Coast Guard, local school districts, and city park facilities. His favorite of these was a set of heavy Timber-Frame kitchens and a pavilion to improve his favorite childhood park. He enjoys visiting there with his daughter and reminding her, “I built this whole park just for you - but you should probably share it.” When he is not at work, Tom enjoys learning new hobbies, cooking a good meal with a cast iron or on the grill, and relaxing for a movie night with his wife and daughter.
Kevin B- Superintendent
Growing up in the construction industry for over 30 years from the ground-up, Kevin delivers a full-service approach and experienced insight on a variety of commercial and industrial building aspects. From start to finish, he provides well-rounded knowledge and hands-on experience from working in the trenches as a young laborer to later, completing turnkey finished buildings as an experienced project supervisor. He’s worn many hats and built-up an impressive level of hands-on craftsmanship in every phase from concrete to roofing, plumbing to electrical, welding to mechanics, and advanced carpenter to site supervisor.
Kevin grew up in Eastern OR and WA and has travelled all the western states for work. In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his daughters and a special woman in his life. He enjoys trips with his dogs, barbecues, fishing, boating, hiking, comedy, reading, ocean trips, construction research, and working on DIY projects.
Matthew W - Superintendent
Matthew grew up traveling extensively in Latin America and Europe, experiencing many different cultures through those years. He started his construction career in Jacksonville, FL participating in an apprenticeship program through the North East Florida Builders Association while working for a custom home builder. Shortly after that he moved to Seattle and continued building on his experience with multi-family apartment complexes doing maintenance, remodeling and construction projects. He has worked in New Orleans doing remodels after floods washed through, worked on large commercial sporting arenas, and on the road doing tenant improvement construction of new stores and retrofits of existing stores. Eventually, he returned to Seattle and began working on new construction of assisted living facilities and the remodeling of existing structures. There, he quickly moved more into construction management with this company and was brought down to Santa Rosa, CA to assist in building large apartment complexes and equally impressive retirement communities. Now that those projects are over, he has moved back to Washington state and has settled into the Collaborative team!
David P - Superintendent
David has over 35 years of experience in the construction industry, including 28 years as an owner operator of a successful Idaho based general construction company. He is an experienced industry professional providing innovative, comprehensive, and team-centric management services; driven to bring expertise in all aspects of construction projects from the ground up. David is a consummate professional who brings integrity to all dealings, and promotes ethical business practices and long-term customer relationships.
David has delivered proven results bringing in jobs on time and under budget. He has managed projects across multiple states ranging from complex developments and build outs, to large commercial structures, apartments and Government buildings. David has a proven history of safely completing projects without injuries or incidents.
Ivan R- Assistant Superintendent
Ivan is a hardworking carpenter pushing his career to the next level as an assistant superintendent. Ivan was born and raised in Laredo, TX where his love for carpentry goes all the way back to about the age of 9, when he began helping his dad build things from old lumber scraps and small furniture pieces. He was often at play in his dad's workshop and garage as a child. Rather than becoming a general laborer, he decided that his love for the trade was what he would pursue.
He found that the demands and challenges of framing a building suited his mind and physique. Ivan loves the atmosphere of the jobsite, and the process of making buildings as well as being introduced to new challenges and new opportunities. Hard work doesn't bother him! When he is not on the job, he likes to spend time with his kids, and play fetch with their Great Pyrenees!
Dino Z- Project Manager
Dino Zeppetella joins the Collaborative team with over 30 years of experience in the construction industry. Dino started as a laborer in high school and prior to starting college for construction management, Dino became a journeyman carpenter. He worked his way up to a project superintendent and now he holds the project manager title.
Dino has an extensive background in senior living and retirement community construction as a project manager. He has a deep understanding of the complex processes of working with local, state, and federal entities. He has also managed a wide variety of commercial projects in both the public and private sectors. Dino has also worked on industrial projects with local and foreign energy companies, building wind farms across the country as the demand for clean, renewable energy production has grown. As a skilled project manager, Dino uses a proactive, collaborative approach to efficiently drive projects from start to finish. With solid communication and a steadfast management approach, Dino brings contractors, architects, and owners together to ensure expectations are met and projects are completed on time and within budget.
Bethany P- Associate Project Manager
Bethany brings a love of mathematics, physics, and creative problem-solving to the Collaborative team. While pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bethany became captivated by the technical and creative aspects of the construction industry. Since then, she has spent the last 2+ years working in commercial construction with a focus on design-built alongside her classes. Bethany has obtained an Associates of Science and is currently a senior in the bachelor’s program at PSU.
Though Bethany was born in Seattle, she moved to Southern California when she was just a week old. However, she has spent the last 20 years back in Washington state where she spends her time outside of work and class raising her two children.
Brett M- Project Manager
Brett brings over 15 years of construction experience to the Collaborative team, he started as a framer and has worked his way up to a project manager. His background includes electrical, commercial FEMA projects, civil and mining, as well as residential home building and remodeling. Brett believes the client and trade partners experience with Collaborative is paramount for success and strives to make every interaction a pleasant and productive one.
Brett grew up in the Willamette Valley area of Oregon, now he is a resident of southwest Washington. In his free time, Brett enjoys spending time with his three daughters and wife, playing golf, or watching Kansas City Chiefs games.
Edwin R - Project Engineer
Edwin has been in the construction industry for over 30 years. Driven by his strong work ethic, he has led teams to complete a wide variety of projects ranging from $100k to $25 million in value while maintaining a high standard of quality that even granted his company the Builder of the Year award.
Edwin first learned the value of hard work from his parents as he grew up in the central valley of California. During the summer months, he would go to work with his father beginning at a very young age. In his early twenties, Edwin began applying his hard-working determination to team management where he discovered his love for guiding a team to a job well-done.
After discovering his passion for leading, Edwin attended the American Intercontinental University where he obtained a master’s degree in Project Management. Since then, he has served as a Project Manager, Project Engineer, or Assistant Project Manager for companies in the masonry, civil, and multi-family sectors.
Edwin and his wife decided to move to the Battle Ground area after a family trip to Washington, where he soon joined the Collaborative team as a Project Engineer. When Edwin isn’t working, he can be found with his pets enjoying the outdoors and going fishing.
Glenda R - Project Administrator
Glenda is a seasoned project administrator, with nearly 20 years of experience in the construction business with many projects in all sectors (both Federal and private) of the industry under her belt. She fits right in with the Collaborative Team with her exceptional communication, organization, management, and multi-tasking skills. She prides herself in being self-motivated and detail oriented, to ensure our project documents and requirements flow seamlessly. We appreciate that Glenda is both a teacher and a life-long learner; likely stemming from her earlier career in the Battle Ground School District—she fits right into the Collaborative way of sharing and receiving information though effective communication.
Glenda is a lifelong Pacific Northwest resident; in 2000 she moved from the greater Seattle area to Vancouver, Washington. Glenda attended Central Washington University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in General Business.
Ashlie M - Project Support Specialist
Ashlie brings the Collaborative team experience in project assistance and coordination, as well as a deep appreciation for flow and efficiency. Motivated by her desire to understand, simplify, and expedite everyday processes, Ashlie uses her drive and experience to support the Collaborative team and ensure each project glides seamlessly from start to finish. Supported by her Bachelors in Intermedia Art, Ashlie plans to expand her skillset to become a project manager in the near future.
Ashlie’s love of efficiency stems from her interest in project management and personal development, and she tries to implement these strategies and values in all facets of her life. Her interests are as varied as her experience, ranging from marketing and photography to Latin dance and music. Although home for Ashlie is the Pasadena area of Southern California, she also has a love for the Bay Area and Pacific Northwest, and she spends much of her time with her mother, brother, son, and niece.
Sarah M - Project Support Specialist
Originally from Southern California, Sarah fell in love with the Pacific Northwest after a short visit to Portland in early 2018. Since moving to the area, she has worked in both the events and construction industries. Her love for efficiency, streamlined processes, and attention to detail is what has motivated her to pursue a career in project support and hopes to one day grow into a project management position. In her free time, Sarah likes kayaking, hiking, reading, going to concerts, and spending time with her husband and dogs.
Linzy S - Office Assistant
Linzy joined our team in May of 2021 and was eager to dip her toes in the waters of the construction industry! She is a current college student at Lower Columbia College, studying for a Business Management Degree. Her lifelong dream of Project Management isn’t such a distant thought anymore with her drive and passion for the industry fueling her fire from within. She is set to finish school next year and is excited to move on up the ranks here at Collaborative and learn all there is to know about the work and the company. Her positive and upbeat spirit make her a great asset to our team, as well as her attention to detail and quick turnaround times on projects.
Linzy was born and raised in La Center and has stayed close to home after graduating from high school in 2019. She lives on a farm so she stays very busy - tending to the horses, donkeys, goats, and chickens. In her free time, Linzy enjoys all things outdoors - fishing, kayaking, playing with her dogs, hiking, going to the beach and camping.
Teresa L - Accounting Administrator
Born and raised in Portland Oregon, Teresa started working at her family owned business after school. There, her dad taught her the importance of work integrity with a positive attitude. She began her accounting career soon after in the banking industry and later pivoting to car dealerships. Teresa’s “need to know” attitude has turned out to be a beneficial trait in the accounting world. Both avid Dodger fans, Teresa enjoys traveling with her husband to various stadiums nationwide to root on the boys in blue. Their pride and joy Shelby (Daughter), graduated from Eastern Washington University with her bachelors degree in accounting in the spring of 2021 and they have been loving having her back home catching up on lost time while she was away at school!

Cooper & Journey - Official "Office Greeters"
We try to remember to have a fun side here in the office and Cooper and Journey are just what we need to help with this. Cooper is a rescued stray that we adopted from the Clackamas dog shelter. At just four years old, he is working hard on his social skills as a greeter and notifying us when the mail or Fed-Ex arrives. Journey, the Great Dane, is also a rescue. She's a little more shy than Cooper. They are the best of friends and provide the best entertainment playing. They keep a close eye on the time clock too and reminds everyone to take a break now and then. As soon as work time is over they are ready to head to the park and play fetch!
